[CASE STUDY] At the University of Brescia we have developed a modern wayfinding system that respects and enhances the unique architectural context of a 15th century cloister.
When working with historic buildings, signage cannot limit itself to indicating: it must interact with the environment, enhance it, simplify use without invading the original aesthetics.
When carrying out the project we took into account 3 guidelines:
Modularity and interchangeability:
Totems and wall panels designed to evolve with the spaces, allowing easy and fast updates, without invasive structural interventions.
Color identity for each area:
We used differentiated colors to immediately facilitate orientation between different faculties and campuses, making routes and destinations intuitive.
An integrated approach:
Every element, from materials to graphic design, has been designed to fit harmoniously into the architectural context, respecting its value and history.
